Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
These terms govern your use of software products sold through the Aequo Labs storefront. They're written to be readable, not to impress a lawyer.
1. What You're Buying
When you purchase a license from Aequo Labs, you're buying the right to use a specific software product according to the license type you selected. You're not buying the software itself — you're buying a license to use it.
Each product ships with a feature set and license terms defined per-product. Not all products offer the same tiers or options. Check the product page for what's available for the specific product you're evaluating or purchasing.
The specific terms for each license are described on the product page at the time of purchase.
2. What You Can Do
- Install and use the software on the number of machines your license allows.
- Deactivate a machine to free up an activation slot and move it to another machine.
- Use the software for any lawful purpose — personal, commercial, whatever.
- Contact support if something isn't working.
3. What You Cannot Do
- Share, sell, sublicense, or transfer your license key to anyone else.
- Exceed the machine activation limit for your license type.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software.
- Remove or modify proprietary notices, license checks, or attribution.
- Use the software to build a competing product that replicates its core functionality.
4. Machine Activation
Our products use per-machine activation. When you first run the software with your license key, it registers a machine fingerprint. You can deactivate machines through your account to move licenses between hardware.
If your hardware changes significantly (new motherboard, OS reinstall), you may need to deactivate and reactivate. Contact support if you run into activation issues — we're not trying to make your life difficult.
5. Self-Hosted Products
Several Aequo Labs products are designed to be self-hosted on your own infrastructure. For these products:
- You are responsible for your own server security, backups, and maintenance.
- We provide the software and documentation. We don't manage your server.
- Updates are delivered through our distribution system during your license validity period.
- Your data stays on your infrastructure. We never have access to your customer data, license databases, or server contents.
6. Updates and Support
- Software updates are available during your active license period.
- Support is provided via email at support@aequo-labs.com.
- We aim to respond to support requests within two business days.
- Support covers installation issues, bugs, and usage questions. It does not cover custom development, server administration, or third-party integrations.
7. Refund Policy
We do not offer refunds. Instead, every product ships with a generous trial period — typically 30 to 90 days with all features enabled — so you can validate that the product fits your needs before you pay.
If the trial period wasn't sufficient for you to evaluate the software, contact us at support@aequo-labs.com. We're reasonable people and will consider your situation.
8. Payment Processing
Payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information — Stripe handles that entirely. Your purchase creates an order record in our system linked to your account and license.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose.
That said, we actively maintain our products and fix bugs. The warranty disclaimer is standard legal protection, not an excuse to ship broken software.
10. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Aequo Labs be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the software. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the license in question.
11. Termination
We may terminate your license if you violate these terms. You may stop using the software at any time. If we terminate your license for cause, no refund is owed. If we discontinue a product entirely, we'll provide reasonable notice and make the last stable version available for continued use under your existing license.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email. Continued use of the software after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
